Obituary of George Francis Fisher

George Francis Fisher passed away peacefully after a very brief illness at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the age of 97 years. Dear father of Gary (Maureen), George (Melinda), and Anne-Marie Brown (Andy). Grandfather of Grant (Erin), Chantal (Chris), Sean (Natalie), Kathleen (Zeke), Audra, Logan, Sara (Sebastian), Colton. Great-grandfather of Tanner, Skylar, Jordyn, Kaelyn, Geremy, Kinsey, Wesley, Grace, Kaylam and Keegan. Brother of John (Millie), Leo (Anne), Bernadette Rupert, Charles (Marilyn), Vince (Karen), Mary Fisher, Ron (Janet) and Don. Survived by sister-in-law Lea Fisher and brother-in- law Ray Arsenault. Predeceased by his parents Daniel and Mary (Lacey); his wife Audrey (nee Grant), his sons Grant and George; grandson Kyle and siblings Gerard, Leona Morrison (Chick), Betty Arsenault (Maurice Costello), William (Elaine) and Heather MacLean, as well as in-laws Estelle Fisher and Harry Rupert. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, by Audrey’s brother, Arnold, and the rest of the Grants from Souris. George served in all three branches of the Armed Forces, the Second World War and the Cold War. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday from St. Bonaventure’s Church, Tracadie at 10:30 am. Interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. No visiting hours by request. Memorial donations may be made to the Provincial Palliative Care Centre or the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry.
