Obituary of Billy MacLeod
William ‘Billy’ MacLeod, aged 73 years, died peacefully at the QEH on Friday, June 2, 2022. His battle with serious medical issues over the past 9 months showed his courage and his tendency to face life with optimism and a smile. Loving husband of 50 years to Debbie MacLeod (Wood), and proud father to Scott (Kara) MacLeod and Michelle (Chris) MacAulay. Undoubtedly his most treasured role was as grandfather to Sam, Kate, Tysa and Sadie of whom he couldn’t have been more proud of.
Billy will be missed by his sisters Heather (Phil) Campbell, Brenda (Doug) Raham, and Myrtle Stewart; his brother Colin (Annie) and brother-in-law Gary (Dianne) Wood, and sister-in-law Carolyn McLaine and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers-in-law Paul Stewart, Terry Birt and Osborne Wood.
Billy was always on the go, whether that involved visiting his grandkids and taking them for ice cream, touring the country with the judo club, or stopping at the beach for a swim on the way home from work; he was always up for an adventure. He loved to be busy and worked up until the day he was taken to the hospital last Fall, he enjoyed all the people he worked with over the years and loved meeting new people. Billy was a surrogate father to many of Scott and Michelle’s friends and was always the first call when anyone needed a drive home at all hours of the night – he loved having friends around and enjoyed many trips with ‘the kids’.
Billy will be missed by many – his kind heart and optimistic approach to life can be a model for us all.
Thank you to the amazing staff at QEH for the supportive care over the past 9 months. Memorial donations may be made online to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or QEH Foundation.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7 from 5-7 pm at the Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford and funeral will take place at St Andrews United, Vernon Bridge, on June 8th at 3pm.
