So sorry to hear of the passing of Ian "Bucky" Bowes. I was posted to the CFB Summerside fire hall in the early 1980's and I was fortunate to be put on his shift. He was an amazing Sr NCO, was extremely fair, was great at building a team and took pride in developing his young firefighters to be the best they could be. I only worked for him a short time but he was better to me than I deserved and I always said if I ever saw him again I would apologize to him. Sorry Warrant for not taking full advantage of the leadership and mentoring you were so willing to give. May you rest in Peace.

My sincere condolences to Ian’s family.
I worked for Ian when he was the Deputy Fire Chief at CFB Summerside in the mid 1980’s. I will always remember him standing at the divided counter in the kitchen, of the Base fire hall, twisting the corner of his moustache as he pondered the conversation at hand. Good memories for sure. May his family take solace in the knowledge that Ian mentored a lot of young fire fighters who became (and mentored) very good fire fighters in their own rights, by following his example. May he Rest In Peace.

Colleen, Sandra, and Jeff: I was very saddened to read of Ian's passing. Growing up in Pictou,"Bowsie" was a high school classmate, fellow rugby player, and a very good friend of mine. We always tried to connect whenever he was home on leave the first years after he joined the military. He always had such a kind and friendly manner and I am so glad that we were able to get together at the marina for coffee and chat about old memories.when he moved back to Pictou. I can still see that big beaming smile as he sat back and thoroughly enjoyed his time on "Dream Boat lll". My deepest condolences to all of Ian's family and friends. Rest in peace, old friend.
