Obituary of Bernadette Mary Olive Hughes
Bernadette Mary Olive Hughes, 86, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, May 29, 2021.
Born in Alberry Plains, PEI, she was the daughter of the late Gelasius and Katherine (Walsh) Praught.
Bernadette retired with the T. Eaton Co. Ltd. with over 20 years of service. She enjoyed baking and cooking, spending time with her family and helping others.
Bernadette is survived by her children, Brenda Lee Hughes, Daniel Hughes (Elaine) and Shane Hughes (Charline Richard); grandchildren, Paul Nugent, Kelli Hughes, Amanda Hughes (Fred Melanson), Matthew Hughes (Leslie), Chadd Hughes, Kyla Hughes; great grandchildren, Maddison, Meaghan, Hannah, Hayden, Hayleigh, Havoury, Hunter, Finn and Abigail; great great granddaughter, Quinn; sister, Brenda Coles (Daniel Bears); special family friend, Bob Cail and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Pius Hughes (1997); daughter, Cynthia Anne; granddaughter, Kayleigh (Matthew Goodfellow) and sisters, Rita Curran, Genevieve LaLiberte and Paula Curley.
Resting at Fergusons Funeral Home, Moncton NB. Due to current restrictions, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held June 3, 2021 at Fergusons Funeral Home, Moncton and following transfer from Moncton, a private family visitation will occur at Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford PE.
Interment will take place at St. Joachim’s Parish Cemetery, Vernon River, PEI.
