Obituary of Matthew Anthony MacDonnell
Matthew Anthony MacDonnell passed peacefully away at Hillsborough Hospital on Thursday, January 21, 2021. At his side were his sister, Natalie and his “new mom and dad”, Clar and Madonna Fradsham.
He was the son of the late Kathleen and Alan MacDonnell, beloved grandson of the late Sheila (Dolly) Robinson and nephew of Denise Robinson and cousins Taydon and Anderson. Also, mourned by many in his extended family in Ontario and in the US and by his many friends and the Fradsham family in PEI and Ontario, NS and NL.
A gentle man with a wonderful sense of humour, Matthew always said he was a lucky man. He loved surprises, enjoyed going to sports games including hockey and soccer with his PEI family and friends. And his greatest hero was Spider-Man.
Matthew received loving support from so many throughout his lifetime. Especially from the staff at his former home in Montague, which was a part of Inclusions East residential services. Most recently, he was sharing his life with the staff of Unit 7 at Hillsborough Hospital. Words are so inadequate to express the love and respect which he received at both of his final homes. He will be missed for his joy in everything and the camaraderie he shared with his amazing caregivers and supporters.
Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford. Due to Covid 19 protocols there will be no visitation. Matthew’s life will be celebrated at “an invitation only” service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Charlottetown on Monday, January 25 at 2:00 PM. The service will be live streamed at stpaulslive.ca.
If so desired, memorial donations to either Inclusions East Residential Services or Unit 7, Hillsborough Hospital are welcome. It should be noted as designated for resident’s recreational/fun activities.
