Obituary of Gerrit Dijkerman

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his family at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday, June 21, 2020 of Gerrit "Jan" Dijkerman of Stratford and formerly of Village Green and the Netherlands, age 88 years. Beloved husband of "Dini" (ten Have). Pa of Betty Wichers (Rob), Marianne (Derek Penney) and Carla McLeod (Donald). Opa of Nicky Rayner (Chris), Sarah Rose (Brandon), Jace Wichers (Danielle), Orin (Laura) and Vaughn McLeod. Great-grandfather of 4 great grandchildren. Brother of Ben (Riek) and Janna "Zus" Nieuwenhuis. Brother-in-law of Ann Dykerman and Betty Dijkerman. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Gerrit, Bert, Antoon and Ab. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford. Due to current restrictions a family celebration will be held at a later date. No public visiting hours will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the Joy Riders Therapeutic Riding Association of PEI. So do not grieve for me and weep I did not leave, I only sleep I am with the soil here below Where I can nourish life of beauty and glow. Here I can help the falling rain Grow golden fields of ripening grain From here I can join the winds that blow And meet the softly falling snow. Here I can help the sun&quo;s warming light Grow food for birds of gliding flight I can be in the beautiful flowers of spring And in every other living thing. So do not for me weep and cry I am here, I do not die.
