Obituary of Anita Ellen Paquet
Anita Ellen Paquet (Phillips) passed quietly away at the QEH on June 18, 2019, at the age of 85. She had a sharp sense of humour and loved to laugh. Her mind was sharp as a tack and could keep track of horse stats like no other. In fact, she won a small bet or two watching harness racing, one of her beloved activities. She cared tirelessly for an endless parade of animals that came through her house, and passed on that love of animals to her children. She was very happy when all her family was around her, and summer usually found her and Elmer camping for the season.
She was mom to Doug, Debbi Knopp (Steve), Charlene (Frank Quinn) and Steve (Tara Diamond). She was nanny to Angela, Corey, Jericho, Lukas, Zachary (Nicole Mostofa) and Jacob, and great nanny to Logan. She is survived by her siblings, Harold Phillips (Doreen), Libby Hughes (Denny), and Linda Stavert (Bill) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Elmer, her son Doug, her parents Leonard Phillips and Doris (Stanley), brother Albert and sister Edith Jean Jordan.
She hated ceremony, so there will be no funeral or visitation service. However, her ashes will be buried at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 21, and there will be a small reception at the Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave., Stratford, at 12:00, following the internment. Both are open to friends and family. As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the PEI Humane Society.
