Obituary of Alice Beatrice Furness

Passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Dr. John Gillis Memorial Lodge of Alice Beatrice Furness of Vernon River, age 86 years. Beloved wife of the late Frederick Furness and loving mother of Shirley Wilson (Carl), Sharon Vos (Benny), Margaret MacLeod (David), Marlene MacRae (Jeff), Arthur Furness (Sheila), Douglas Furness (Darlene) (Gail) and Milton Furness. Alice will be lovingly remembered by her 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; sisters - Estelle Acorn, Thelma Smallwood and Wilma Grant and sisters-in-law - Beryl Stewart and Anne Meyer. She was predeceased by her son, Elwood Furness, parents James and Minnie (nee McCully) Wilson, sisters - Beulah Devine and Betty MacQuarrie; brothers - Vic, John, George, Norman, Harold, Markus and Kerry Wilson. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave. Stratford for visitation Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 9, 2016 at St. Andrew’s United Church, Vernon Bridge at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Vernon River Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Vernon River Cemetery Fund would be appreciated. Completion of funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home.
