Dear Lois and the family of Lois and Allan Andrews:
Lois I want to express heartfelt condolences to you and your family having learned that Allan has passed on to his eternal Heavenly home in Heaven, just as Jesus promised. (John 14:3) Many years have passed, yet I have cherished memories (from late 1970's and early 80's) when Allan and his brother Bill stayed at our house during leading a talented group of young people from PEI when they visited our church and the community in Rothesay, NB. I was with some of our children (now grown adults) last evening and we remembered the New Christian Singers who sang and played those beautiful song lyrics (we still have some of the old 33 RPM recordings) which touched so many hearts way back then, and now again. Allan left a treasured legacy throughout his lifetime and with a loving witness for his Lord and Savior. May God bless you with His love, comfort and peace during these days of loss, yet knowing that Allan has gained the victory,
Innis McCready

Bobby was forever grateful to Allen for showing him how he could finally, as a twenty something young man, have peace with God through Christ Jesus’s death on the cross. His dept of sin was paid by his Saviour, not by earning brownie points for good deeds. Allen was a wonderful mentor, encouraging Bobby on this new journey to live his life for the Lord. Only a few months ago they had a precious phone call, remembering those days. I’m sure they’ve already connected in heaven!
My heart goes out to you Lois and family for your loss. I pray for God’s grace and comfort for you all in the days to come.

I wanted to share this beautiful quote with you: “The wind is us — it gathers and remembers all our voices, then sends them talking and telling through the leaves and the fields.” — Truman Capote.
To Lois and children, Buffy, Terry, Joshua, Lindsay, Ginger, and Whitney, and their families, I just want to let you know that our family is keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.
I have stories of Alan from his school days in Kinkora with my mom, Marina (Roberts) Whelan, or his playing hockey with my uncle, Gerard Roberts. He even got some good-natured ribbing from my dad, Don "Whip" Whelan, who refereed him in his early playing days! Alan also gave me an after-school job teaching skating and showed me how to skate with power in the old North River Rink, which I've passed on to my own boys.
His kindness, encouragement, and interest in my boys, Daniel and Willie, didn't go unnoticed. They spent so much time at the rink in various programs of Alan's. Running into him over the years always brought joy, as there was always a smile, a handshake, and a kind word. He also never failed to ask about my mom and my boys. I am proud to have had the opportunity to share time with Alan. He was truly a wonderful man. As many have said, it may have started with hockey, but unknown to many, the impression he left has influenced who we are today.
On behalf of my mom, Marina, my wife, Jackie, our sons, Daniel and Willie Whelan, and their wives, Brandy and Jamie, may God bless all of you.
Take care,
Mike Whelan

As we listened to Terry Kelly sing "Safe Home" on Thurs. Aug 22, my thoughts were with Allan and his family.
Two other members of the audience were close friends in Allied Youth and we reminisced together on how much of a positive influence Allan was in our lives and the lives of so many IN PEI, NS, NFLD, and Texas through our time in Allied Youth. Always positive, smiling, Allan was a mentor teaching us to love and respect each other, follow our dreams, have faith and believe. The program introduced many to public speaking, educational sessions on life experiences, Peer Education, brought youth together and life time friendships were made. We shared wonderful sing songs and of course hockey (playoffs in the lounge at UPEI at end of our evening sessions). Allied Youth was a wonderful program for youth under his leadership with his unit co-ordinators for many years. It was such a joy to have Lois join us in 1977 on many trips and events and watch their young family grow. God bless you all at this time.

It is hard to put into words what a tremendous influence Allan was on my life. He taught me to play guitar and even GAVE me a guitar, which I still use. He always encouraged me in my singing and in my faith. His and Lois's kindness and friendship have been deeply significant to me over the 40+ years I have known them. Allan was MC at my and Richard's wedding in 1990 and that was very special. I also treasure the memory of the New Christian Singers reunion in 2014. I remember Allan saying at that time, "We will not pass this way again." Still, I hope that "when the harvest time is ended, I'll see my old friend again."

Lois and family. I was so sorry to hear about Allan's passing. He was such a wonderful man and loved by many. Allan was the Provincial Coordinator of the Allied Youth program when I first started teaching and became a Post Advisor. He was truly a mentor to many Advisors and especially the youth in the Program. His musical talents at Provincial and International Conferenced were a great asset to the Program and the singsongs led by him were legendary and memorable. His guidance to the youth of the Program helped develop leaders among the youth --many of whom have gone on to leadership roles in their future careers. I hope that your memories of happier family times will help ease their time of sorrow and help you in the difficult times ahead.

To Josh, Lois, Ginger, Whitney, and Buffy. We are very sorry to hear about Allan's passing. Allan was a remarkable man, who demonstrated the very best of our hockey community. Allan's philosophy of goal setting, practice, and perseverance, were a major influence on my life. The lessons I learned from his programs still stand with me. Outside of my parent's home, my favourite childhood memories were the experiences I had at his camps.
Allan's friendship to me went beyond camps though. Allan would go out of his way when I was younger to send books and letters of encouragement throughout the years. These acts exemplified who he was, a kind man, who valued education, hard work, and the betterment of the youth of our Island.
Our deepest sympathies go to you and your family at this time.

Allan was an amazing neighbour and family friend. He was lavish with his praise and encouragement. He once told me he loved my mum’s singing- she is the first to admit that she sings like a hinge but she sings with passion and gusto (to my horror). Allan was quick to tell you when he was proud of you. Some of my favourite memories of him are when he was playing his guitar for sing-a-longs and worship. It was a regular occurrence during hockey season to randomly arrive home to find Allan watching our tv since at that time he didn’t want one in his home! I remember summer days spent up at the rink in Slemon park with his kids who he often took with him to work. Allan is such an inspiration for his entrepreneurship, deep love for family and friends, and fierce love for Christ. He had an amazing ability to combine all three together! He is gone from his earthly home but he lives on in heaven and our hearts.

The PEI community and far beyond has been shaken by the passing of Allan. While he was known for his dedication to hockey, long before that Allan touched the lives of thousands of Island youth through the Allied Youth program. As the provincial coordinator he promoted healthy values that educated teens about the harms of alcohol and drug abuse and how we could find other positive ways to have fun and lead meaningful lives. With his guitar and smile he was able to show that fun could be had living healthy active lives. And fun we had! The program was international and we travelled to NFLD, Texas, Pennsylvania and more. Youth executives had input on programs and were given real responsibilities. My personal leadership skills and values emerged largely from this program and as a Provincial President I learned how to chair meetings, delegate, resolve conflict, and give to the greater community. Allan was a great mentor and if you thought of many successful
people on the Island of our vintage many would have emerged from AY. My condolences to the family on the loss of a very special man.
Rest in peace Allan. Vicki Francis

My son Jeremiah Martin and I met Allan in Jeremiah’s younger years, playing spring hockey for the Riptides and attending camps on the island every summer. Allan and Josh always remembered Jeremiah by name when they saw him, and we always came away from the camps uplifted and positive. Now a grown man, my son was deeply influenced by Allen’s message of hard work, respect, and living your best life. We were deeply affected by the news of his passing and want the family to know what a difference he made in our lives.

So many great memories . Staying up all night and having steak and eggs for breakfast watching the sun come up.. ...Alan cooked.. getting our picture taken on the top of the Empire State building, on our way to Buck Hill Falls Pennsylvania for an Allied Youth conference. Hours of talking and never running out of things to talk about.. Singing and praying together talking about the new life Alan is experiencing as we celebrate his achievements here on Earth

Allan is a legend; he truly left a legacy and changed lives with his kindness and passion for helping kids aim to become the best players and more importantly to be the best person they could be; he urged them to give back to themselves and their families & communities to truly be a part of a team. Brent met you as a young inspiring hockey player and years later we brought Adyson to your camp when he was 7 yrs old; he was inspired to become a young entrepreneur from Andrew’s Hockey School encouraging kids to contribute to their goals. Through Allan and the Andrews family; our kids and us parents have met friends for a lifetime and created the most important and cherished memories. Thanks You Allan for inspiring our family; you will be forever missed. Brent, Carey, Adyson and Grayson Leaman

So sorry to hear of Allan's passing. My deepest sympathy to his family. I grew up across the road from Allan in Freetown. I saw him occasionally at The Bell Aliant Centre where he had his Hockey School, as I play Bridge at the Seniors' Active Living Centre (next door). He certainly did well for himself with The Order of Canada and the two other awards!! I am so proud of him!!
My Brother, Douglas Jardine, and his wife, Eleanor, also send their deepest sympathy.

Allan >> Owen, Dan and I are so sad to hear of your passing
Brings comfort knowing you’re resting with Jesus.
Our hearts and prayers goes out to your Wife and family.
I have so much to say about this man, he was a one of a kind.
Here is one of my messages to Allan way back when Owen was in his Andrew’s Hockey School
Hi Allan, here’s a picture of you and O,
I just want to let you know Dan & I are very happy with Andrews Hockey Programs, and it's above and beyond what we expected.
Most of all we’re amazed of how dedicated and passionate you are to your job and to hockey and all our children. Owen talks about you all the time, and he can't wait till he goes to the Sidney Crosby camp, to talk to Sidney all about you. You are kind hearted person Allan and I thank you for all you do God Bless
This was at the beginning of Andrew’s Hockey I text Allan here.
Then Owen and I got to know Allan more and more over the 5 years of Owen being there.
We spent a lot of our Summers there. And I wouldn’t have changed one thing about Allan or the Andrew’s Hockey school.
Through these 5 years Owen and I had a special Bond with Allan, as many did.
But Owen had this unique bond with him
The amount of Love and support this man gave not only to Owen but to all.
He always always never made it all about hockey, to Allan it’s more about teaching these kids respect.,
He showed them to not take your parents for granted and to earn your own money to pay for your hockey and sports.
This was the time when Owen was inspired to create his own business with (Owen’s Protein Pucks)
Allan and his Son loved them, so Owen started selling them to the kids in the Andrew’s Hockey School and even his teachers.
Owen and I were there last year to visit.
And I just got back from PEI Sunday.
I’m sad I didn’t go visit him this time
When it came to Allan and Andrew’s Hockey it felt like family to us.
Allan you will be forever missed
And we both hold a special place in our hearts for you.

My Sincere condolences to dear Lois, Josh, Buffy, Ginger, Whitney and all of your family. I have fond memories of my time spent at AHG hockey school, and the kindness of Allan and Lois in looking after me. Our family loved the music of The New Christian Singers, with Allan, brother Bill, and Skip Wheaton. Allan has been a lifelong hero to me, and I will always remember his kindness and steadfast faith in Christ. He always made everyone feel important and cared for, and inspired others to be more and do more. I pray your family will all take comfort knowing that Allan ran the best race in life that a person could run, and that he is now in the full presence of the Lord.

Thinking of you all at this very difficult time. Allan was a huge role model in my life. Al always told me to dream big. He opened a lot of doors for me as a child chasing my dream to play hockey. I got to play with a lot of successful girls. I’m forever thankful for all the opportunities Al gave me not only in hockey but as a human, he tought me patients and kindness he was a wonderful man and he will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. My most fondest memory of Al was when he was coaching the all girls young islanders and we were in Halifax playing, my mom took a wrong turn and ended up in Peggy’s cove which in turn made us late to the game Al sat me for that whole first period he then looked at me in the second and said are you ready Kennedy? I took off as fast as I could and scored a goal when I got off the ice and to the bench Al gave me a big hug and said I knew I could count on you, now tell your mom to make sure you’re here on time for the next game I could of used you in the first period. I’ll never forget you Al you made a lasting impression in my heart. May you rest in peace ❤️

Dear Lois and family and especially Buffy whom Allan had play the violin us over dinner years ago.
We send to you our deepest sympathy over your loss of Allan. What a fine family man and citizen, hockey man and educator. During our tenure at Notre Dame of Saskatchewan, Allan drew to the attention of many of his players, coaches and their families to our program at the College. Quite a few came to the school both as players and staff. We were grateful for that and the fact that the students and staff sent to Notre Dame had such a good foundation and mentor in Allan..
Allan's life was a life lived well. rip

I never met Allan but I was impacted back in the day of New Christian Singers. As a young believer I was impressed by the group's dedication to share the Gospel songs. Only eternity will reveal all the links in the chains of our lives. I met a lady last year and she told me a lot about Alan and Lois. Again, I was impressed. When I saw he was missing, i felt so sad. I have been praying for you all. God bless you as you grieve.

My son had the opportunity to attend camps at Andrews Hockey for several years and I believe those weeks made invaluable contribution to who he has grown to be. In a community that can be overly competitive, short-sighted and hurtful, Andrews was a refuge that prioritized, celebrated and rewarded sportsmanship, leadership and character. They saw the person before the athlete. Thank you to Josh and the rest of Allan’s family for sharing him with so many young people.
