Obituary of Douglas Errol Jewell

Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, PEI on Friday, May 10th of Douglas Errol Jewell of Cornwall, age 83. Loving and devoted husband to Barbara (nee Robertson). Dear father to Errol (Rosemary), Valerie MacIntosh (Mark), Andrea MacDonald (Derryl) and Charlotte Jewell. Proud grandfather to Aiden, Cole, Abby, Chase, Isaac, Rachael and Megan. Survived by his sisters, Dorothy Sentner (Alton), Lorraine Lund (Chuck), Janet Docherty (Roger) and by his sister-in-law Thelma Jewell. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents; Daniel and Alice (nee Rix) Jewell, his brother Preston and sister Elva Dixon.

 

Douglas enjoyed a full life. He was a farmer at heart - at peace when he was in the great outdoors working the land or hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and friends telling many wonderful stories of his adventures (and some mishaps) over the years. He especially enjoyed card games, specifically his men's night card night as he competed for the coveted trophy. He greeted everyone at the door with a big hello " Come on in, time for a game?" Referring to a game of crib. He will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate to know him. 

 

Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 14 from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm with funeral service immediately following at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
