Dear MacPherson Family,
When I saw Beth for first time since my years of teaching at Vernon River school, at Elva's 85th birthday party on April 12, 2014, in the garage-room on McKenna Road, I was floored by how sweet and childlike and unchanged she was from when I knew her as a child at school. She always had a shining presence. Then, at the wake, seeing you all—four generations of your family--it came to me that the MacPhersons had become my extended family. During the years when I taught Bruce in grades 2,3, and 4 and then in grade 7, I came to know your family and always felt so included and appreciated and welcomed into the family and community, even though I was from away. Beth's sweetness and good humour are the lasting impressions I have of her. Seeing and shaking hands with and hugging and speaking with you all at the wake for Beth was heartwarming. Thank you.
