Obituary of Bernadette Loretta Heron

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Bernadette Loretta Heron (Power), who passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Dr. John Gillis Memorial Lodge in Belfast PEI. 

 

Bernadette was born Greenfield PEI, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lauretta (Acorn) Power. She was predeceased by her husband Ivan Heron, son Michael, great- granddaughter Halle, siblings John Power and Anne David (Chester) and brother-in-law John McCabe.

 

Bernadette was a loving mother to Janice MacDonald (Alan), Shawn Heron (Shelley) and Lisa Heron, and a cherished grandmother to Kristopher, Kyle (Maggie) and Chelsey Johnston (Justin) and Shanna Heron. Great-grandmother of Drew and Cole. She will be missed by her sister Mary McCabe and remembered by her sisters-in-law Carol Power and Ruth Heron.

 

Bernadette was a person of faith and an active member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Women's League.

 

Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home from where visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 4-7 pm.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, Fort Augustus on Friday at 10:30 am. Interment in the church cemetery.  The St. Patrick’s Catholic Women's League will hold a prayer service at the funeral home Thursday at 3:15 pm.

 

Memorial donations may be made online to the St. Patrick’s Church Cemetery Fund or the PEI Humane Society.

 

Bernadette will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
